Everton have missed out on signing winger Urby Emanuelson.

The Holland international, who can also play as a left-sided defender, has signed a 3-and-a-half year deal with Italian side AC Milan after former club Ajax concluded the 1.7m Euro transfer.

FollowEverton can reveal Everton were a strong contender for the 24 year-old’s signature as Everton boss David Moyes wanted him as Steven Pienaar’s replacement, however, he rejected Everton’s offer and joined Milan instead.

A poorly translated quote from the the player suggests David Moyes wanted Emanuelson to come and see him after Pienaar’s transfer, but he was injured. “After the transfer of Pienaar wanted to come and see me coach, but I was injured.”
