Sporting Lisbon have confirmed that highly rated 17 year-old defender Eric Dier has joined Everton on loan until June.

Whilst a loan move may seem a strange decision for some, due the the players age, Everton wish to take a closer look at him before parting with a substantial transfer fee.

Dier, a Manchester United fan,  is seen as one of England’s brightest prospects despite playing his football in Portugal since he was 8 years old.
