Yakubu to the hammers..

In an “exclusive” report, Goal.com are reporting Everton striker Yakubu has magically agreed to join West Ham when Avram Grant takes over. The website says that the Nigerian has already “verbally agreed” to join West Ham after the World Cup.

This sounds a little dodgy – and difficult to believe, especially as a £7m figure has been suggested for a powerful player who scored 21 goals in his first season for Everton. I’m not taking their report seriously: “verbally agreeing” means nothing – it has to go through the club anyway.

Everton need to keep the faith with Yakubu – he is a proven goalscorer who before his serious injury was a 15-20 goals-a-season man and next season will be a big one for him. Yakubu has 2 years left on his contract.

I’m personally becoming irritated by all our best players being linked with moves away; Yakubu, Arteta, Pienaar and both Rodwell and Cahill before they signed new contracts. What will be next? Baines to Liverpool for 50p?
