Tonight is the night we can really test our European pedigree.  Benfica are European ever presents who have proven a challenge to top teams in the Champions League.  However despite this they crashed out of last years UEFA Cup in the group stage after failing to win a game.

After two hugely disappointing draws against relegation fodder this game offers the perfect chance to get our season up an running again.  With yet more names added to our injury list and with Neil and Heitinga being ineligible a smash and grab win will be on Moyes’ mind.

We may be down to the bare bones and up against an experienced European side, but Everton will be backed by the biggest following since 1985 continuing our 100% European record is not out of our reach.
