Arteta Injury Blow
By Ryan G • Sep 11th, 2009 • Category: News |Evertonians who have been waiting nervously to know if the rumours about Mikel Arteta being out until March are true will be interested to know that is not exactly the case. It has now been revealed that star midfielder Arteta will now be out for longer than expected.
The best little Spaniard was expected to start training this Monday, and it has been a blow to fans and the club that the creative player will be missing for further weeks.
Despite claims of him ‘being out till March’ on our forum and other internet sites, this is not the case. Head physio Mick Rathbone has explained the problem.
He said: “Mikel was doing really well and was bang on schedule but he’s had a slight problem with some of the stitching inside the knee and that’s been irritating him for a while now,” he explained.
Mick Rathbone believes Arteta will be back in the near future.
“So the specialist has decided to take them out and ease the aggravation. It’s a setback but it’s only a blip. It’s a case of weeks rather than months.”
“This won’t affect the overall return of Mikel Arteta, it’s just put a new timescale on it. It’s just unfortunate but the stitches are out and it will be fine now,” concluded Rathbone.
