The Daily Mail are reporting Everton are interested in singing Real Madrid midfield player Rafael van der Vaart.

The versatile 26 year old central midfield playmaker is apparently on his way out of Real Madrid door with Real Madrid signing players such as Kaka and Ronaldo.

The Dutch international is capable of operating on both sides of the midfield, and whilst the player would like to come to England and an exit is expected, we believe a move is unlikely while his wife Sylvie is continuing her treatment for breast cancer.

According to the same paper, Johnny Heitinga is set to sign for Everton for around £6million before the deadline on Tuesday.
