Transfer update: Senderos talks confirmed; More Lescott rumours
By Ian Phillips • Aug 4th, 2009 • Category: News |After strong reports from Switzerland over the past couple of days that Philippe Senderos had signed for Everton, the club officially confirmed the talks today, but the transfer is not complete. Yesterday the German UEFA website said that he had signed but it appears that is not the case, though it is expected the deal will be completed shortly. If he does sign Senderos will make his Everton debut against the club he is signing from, Arsenal in Everton’s Premier League curtain-raiser on August 15th.
Senderos could be taking Joleon Lescott’s place in the team. Manchester City have been chasing him throughout the summer and have had two bids rejected. It is rumoured that Lescott has verbally asked Moyes for a transfer which was rejected and he will now write to Chairman Bill Kenwright pleading for a move. If this is the case it is unlikely Kenwright will want to hold a player at the club against their will and he will try and get as high a price as possible for the England defender
