Baines to make international bow at Wembley?

Tomorrow evening sees Fabio Capello’s England take on Slovakia at Wembley with 3 Everton defenders hoping to take to the Wembley turf 3 weeks before Everton’s semi final against Manchester United. Centre-backs Joleon Lescott and Phil Jagielka will be hoping to get a run out to prove their worth before Wednesday’s World Cup Qualifier against the Ukraine but it is Leighton Baines who has a better chance of getting on the pitch. Jagielka and Lescott are unlikely to be able to shift the brilliant Rio Ferdinand and captain John Terry for a starting birth, but with Wayne Bridge injured, Leighton Baines will be hoping to prove to Capello that he should be the long term understudy to Ashley Cole. Capello is expected to field a strong team but there is no doubt that he will give in form players a chance to prove they’re good enough in preparation for the Three Lions’ upcoming World Cup Qualifiers.
