Moyes: Jags for England

Everton manager David Moyes has questioned why defender Phil Jagielka has been overlooked again by England coach Fabio Capello. Centre-back Jagielka, 26, has impressed for the Toffees this campaign and has started all of the club’s 13 Premier League games.

However, he was not named in Capello’s 23-man squad to face Germany on Wednesday, with defender Michael Mancienne, who has yet to make a top-flight appearance, a surprise selection. Continues below[…]

Moyes said in The Sun: “Put it this way, he’s playing as well if not better than he was last season, when he was included in the England squad.

“It’s hard enough picking my own team without trying to tell someone else what to do but Jags has been playing as well as I have seen him.”

“He has been our most consistent player this season and his pace, athleticism and strength have been impressive.”

“Maybe if he keeps that up he will get in again.”
