Fellaini Impressed On First Day
By Ryan G • Sep 12th, 2008 • Category: News |Marouane Fellaini has today joined up with his Everton team-mates for the first time as he prepares himself to be thrown in the deep end this weekend, as it is expected he’ll make his debut against Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.
In his first interview in England he was quick to thank Everton for everything they’ve done. He said “First of all thank you for welcoming me, thanks for buying me, getting me into this great club, it’s a lovely club. So far I’ve seen the fantastic facilities here; you’ve got a great academy here and training facilities for the kids. Hopefully I’m going to discover some more great things as I spend more time here.”
Marouane was asked what his impressions of David Moyes was when they first met in Brussels on the 1st September and he replied saying “He was always enthusiastic and you can tell he gives his all to the cause and to the club and works hard for the club and I’m just pleased he was interested in me. I want to repay the faith that he has shown in me by giving my best for the club.”
Fellaini seems very confident in his own ability and seems to ooze calm. This was clear to see when asked whether he’s nervous about his move to the Merseysiders.
“The only thing I’m thinking about is the desire to do well, you know I’m a young footballer and I’m enthusiastic, keen to succeed. Why should I have nerves? That’s something I do not have. As I say it’s just about doing my best for the club.”
The Belgium international explained what kind of player he was and said he’s aiming to get his fair share of goals for the blues this season. “I’m a holding defensive midfielder player; I try and win as many balls as I can and get hold of the ball and pass it cleanly to a man, that’s how I play. I’ve managed to get one or two goals with my head in the Belgium league and I do my best to help my team whether it’s corners all dead-balls, that’s where I try and show my strength.”
Everton have been missing some steal in front of the back four this season and have already conceded seven goals in their opening three games. All Evertonians (including myself) are hoping that Everton’s record signing of £15million can strengthen the core of our team and help us push on to the next level.
Great news lets hope he has many good seasons playing for the Blue boys starting with a win at stoke
