No Go for Ochoa

It would seem that Everton’s interest in Mexican goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa is over now after his America club president (Michel Bauer) rejected an approach from the toffees.

Bauer was quoted in the Mexican press saying: “We had a meeting with Ochoa to tell him we refused the offer from Everton. Neither us, nor the player think that a loan for a player of the quality of Ochoa is something serious.”

The America club president also added: “We have arranged with Ochoa that beside the fact he has a contract with America until 2010, if an important offer appears next year we will do all we can do to transfer him because good players like him deserve to be transferred to a European team and improve their career. But for the moment Ochoa will stay in America until December at least and after that we will see.”

David Moyes is after a second goalkeeper to act as cover for Tim Howard. It is believed that Moyes doesn’t want to sign Ochoa on a permanent straight away but America club are looking for cash up-front. It looks likely that Moyes will have to look elsewhere.
