Sources in West Africa are this evening reporting the kidnap of Everton and Nigerian international captain Joseph Yobo’s brother.

Yobo is a popular character is his home land having set up a charitable organisation in addition to captaining the national team.

A statement from police spokeswoman Rita Inoma-Abbey confirmed this stating ‘unidentified men seized Yobo’s brother at gunpoint before dawn today.’ She said no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.

Kidnaps like this are becoming common place in lawless areas of Nigeria, where Oil workers are quite often taken and held for ransom.

All at FollowEverton.com hope this situation reaches a speedy and safe conclusion and our thoughts are with the Yobo family.
