Transfer Window opens – officially

So silly season has officially begun, and Everton are being linked with everyone from the cream of the crop – Stephen Carr, says it all really.
We’ve so far made approaches for Ramsey, Gera and Round, we’ve signed up Pienaar and lost Carsley. With two months of transfer rumours to come, Everton fans will be praying for a lot more activity to come.
We’re in talks with Steve Round as our new number 2, Suchy as a new centre back, and our eternal stalkers Newcastle are supposedly vying with us for the services of Aimar. Kallstrom linked himself to us before most of us had heard of him, and Bradley has been sweet talked by Howard and that’s just a small part of the transfer rumour mill.
In what many fans have decided is our make or break close season, our future over the coming years could be decided by the quality and quantity of the players we sign. Realistically we’re not going to be signing anyone for over £15million (Crouch anyone? No? Thank God!) and we’ve got a wage structure to stick to, so Arshavin can be ruled out (if you hadn’t ruled him out already).
With one of the smallest squads in the league, and virtually no midfielders, expect to be linked with every winger and centre mid to have ever kicked a ball, but if Moyes sticks by his usual method of a few cheap deals, one big deal and a loan signing or two, then we’ll hopefully be going into next season with the quality we need to challenge for 4th and dust off the trophy room for an overdue piece of silverware.
Clubs can “sign” players any time after close season, however, it officially starts on the 1st July when players can join their new clubs.
So with a fun summer of frustration and disappointment ahead, followed by a mild sense of relief come deadline day (or we lose all hope, God turns out to be a Kopite and we sign Gravesen again), stick with FollowEverton for all the latest transfer gossip, reactions and hopefully news of a restraining order against Newcastle.

Second great article from you over the past few days, keep it up Liam lad.
I’m glad now its opened, been waiting a while. What I get is that the season opens today, and players can join there new clubs, and on the last day of the season you can make bids but they cant join ya.
I’d like Turan / Kallstrom I think they’d be good signings for da blues!
I’d like to have Kallstrom and Orlando Engelaar , perfect for us.
No More players are needed if we get them both
Good piece some good point and put us blues in a nutshell, always optimistic always waiting for something that never realy happens. Lets hope this window is different and moyes raises our spirits to fever point with some massive signings. Well av always been an optimist.
Dont know about turan though , think he is a bit old.
keep up the good work
efcyub I disagree mate, we need more then two midfielders. We’ve currently got four midfielders if you don’t count pip the drip and two of those are injury prone and one of the injury prone plays as an attacking midfielder / striker in 4-5-1. We need more players then people think!
arshavin is the best
Sionko would be nice.
Also i would like Arda
