Jo to go to City
By Ryan G • Jun 8th, 2008 • Category: News |Everton look set to miss out on CKSA Moscow striker Jo this transfer window after Manchester City close in on the 20m pound signing of the player.
With Spurs already having spent rather obscene amounts of money so far in this transfer window with well over 20 million pounds spent on the transfers of Dos Santos and Modric, it seems we will have some strong competition to catch up with in the market this summer.
Now it is apparent that Brazilian striker Jo, currently plying his trade at CSKA Moscow is on the verge of signing for Manchester City in a deal worth around 20 million pounds.
Numerous newspapers and websites including the BBC claimed that Everton where interested in the striker but official talks never materialized.
With City looking into the possibility of signing previously one of the best Brazilians in the world in the form of Ronaldinho, it would seem a deal for Jo is just the beginning of spending for City.
The current players that we are linked with at the moment are a Bristol city right back who is unproven at even championship level (Christian Ribeiro) and up and coming star Aaron Ramsey. Moyes locked>>
The last two seasons have seen Everton consolidate European football. The question is do the board really have the ambition to build on this? With big money being thrown around again, we will surely need to break our transfer record for the third season running to keep up. Will the next 5 years see Champions League or Championship? Over to you Keith…..
That is a good article you have wrote, it is more realistic and truthfull, and as ridiculous as it may seem even spending 12 million on a midfielder has now become the norm in the premier league and we dont want to get left behind. Its a good job we have a good manager in davey moyes that has had to previously find good players on a tight budget.
