Scot Mcdonald to Everton?
By Ryan G • May 30th, 2008 • Category: News |Australian international Scott McDonald has been in impressive form for Celtic this season and Moyes’ Celtic ties along with the attraction of club football with fellow Socceroo Tim Cahill could see the Melbourne hitman make a move to Goodison this summer.
There have been murmurs of unrest for the Celtic Striker who has scored 24 goals in 34 appearances this season after an alleged spat for manager Gordon Strachan following his withdrawal against Motherwell earlier in the year.
With Rangers threatening to take all the honours in Scotland this season, there is potential for further unrest and with Cahill being selected more for Australia for his efforts at Goodison, the lure of Champions League football next season may not be forefront on McDonalds mind….
In fact, McDonald’s desire to be part of the Australia set-up may be the sweetener for a Goodison move, after stating in a Telegraph interview, ‘Australia’s aim is to make the 2010 World Cup and if I can make that squad and we can qualify, it will be a massive feat.’
Everton’s goal-scoring woes towards the close of the season may tempt Moyes to move for more firepower, although it will not be easy, McDonald having been pivotal to Celtic’s European and League run this season, being a child hood Celtic supporter and having 2 years remaining on his contract.
He is the sort of player that we may be looking at, and we are suggesting that this player could be on Moyes’ list of transfer targets – and, as we know, the Premier League is the place to be.
