Free Agent - David Vaughan

David Vaughan has rejected a contract offer from Blackpool and has since emerged as a potential target for Everton.

The Welshman’s contract with the Seasiders expired at the end of the season and key players such as DJ Campbell and Charlie Adam, who have also been linked with a move to the blue half of Merseyside, are expected to leave following the Tangerines relegation from the Barclays Premier League. Vaughan has expressed his desire to continue playing at the top level, but with interest from Sunderland, and West Brom closing in, Everton will have little time to bring the midfielder to Goodison Park.

Everton are expected to be busy in the transfer market, with the sales of Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Joseph Yobo likely to fund any transfer interests. The blues have been heavily linked with West Ham striker Demba Ba, who is eligible to leave on a free transfer following their relegation from the Premier League, however, talks with the Senegalese international are believed to have broken down and Newcastle are reportedly willing to offer a better financial package than Everton can afford.
