United Eye Young Everton Defender – Report

By • Feb 22nd, 2021 • Category: News |

Manchester United are keen on a move for young Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who say United are monitoring the 18-year-old defender, who is currently impressing on loan at Blackburn.

The England youth international signed for Everton in a £1m deal and made several appearances towards the end of the 2019/20 season.

However, an injury sustained early in the 20/21 campaign saw the centre back injured for several weeks and then unable to return to the Everton fold.

The 6ft 5 two-footed central defender is highly rated by Everton and would not be for sale, despite Everton being well-stocked in his position.

We’d definitely file this link to United in the ‘nonsense’ category at this stage, especially given Liverpool are also said to be interested.

Meanwhile, it appears inevitable that lazy United links will surface for the likes of striker Calvert-Lewin and the very impressive Ben Godfrey. The Red Devils have prioritised an out-and-out centre forward and a Premier League defender with pace.
