Forget Allardyce! Everton Want Superstar Manager

Everton want Diego Simeone as their next manager.

The news arrives after reports yesterday that suggested Everton would be appointing 63-year old Sam Allardyce as their next manager.

The formerly disgraced England manager has been dubbed ‘the survival specialist’ – but as an appointment that would be deemed underwhelming amongst fans, major shareholder Farhad Moshiri has been exploring other options.

The latest major link is Athletico Madid’s superstar manager, Diego Simeone – a man who has won 5 titles with the club including La Liga and the Europa League but has also reached two Champions League finals.

Simeone has been at Athletico since 2011 and thus may be open to a fresh challenge.

Moshiri would give Simeone his full backing in the form of a huge transfer budget and his quality would be reflected in a substantial personal wage.

Poaching the Argentinian may be considered ambitious, but with Farhad’s (or if you read reports, Usmanov’s…) money, it could be achievable.

One to set the pulses racing.
