MailBag entry

The season has drawn to a close in the Premier League, and now all the chopping and changing begins for the next season, for one such club (my team Everton) its make or break for the manager David Moyes, who made it plain clear he would only sign a new contract if the Everton board would back him with funds in the summer transfer market. Media reports suggested Moyes was near to signing a four year deal which would take his contract into the year 2012, great news for Evertonians.

What’s going on at Goodison? Why the wait?

Everton ‘CEO’ Keith Wyness has already said on the official website that the board will back manager Moyes, if its any consolation their has not been much activity in the transfer market by any other Premier League club, which leads to me thinking that David Moyes is looking to recruit his new additions after Euro 2008 which is being jointly hosted by both Austria and Switzerland – starting June 7th 2008. With the opening game with one of the host countries Switzerland kicking of the Euro 2008 competition, against the
Czech Republic in Basel, (Live on BBC 1, K/O 5pm).

Moyes himself has been invited to join the panel to cover one of the Euro 2008 games being shown on both Itv-BBC-1, maybe then Moyes will tell us whats going on….

What are your thoughts?

  1. He’s waiting for the board to ‘show him the money’ before signing anything.

All his comments to the media from him towards the end of the season suggested he wanted the board to match his own ambitions.

    Let’s see if they deliver.
