The 'nash'
It's that time o' year again. Oh to be a bookie! I'd rather be a thievin' 'unscrupulous bookmaker than a 'meat is murder' any day of the week.

They've best part destroyed the greatest steeplechase on the planet with their wailin'. They'd soon change their minds if they were fooled into scoffin' a tesco value range lasagne; after bein told it was linda mccartney - just like the rest of us were, when we were told it was beef; but in reality it was that one that fell at the canal turn.

(What do vegetarian worms eat? Linda mccartneeeeeeeeeey Tongue )

Sorry - just can't stand palid veggie-rights whoppers. Anywho - Who will YOU be wishin' becomes a lasagne or burger, come 4:25 tomorrow? By that, I mean anyone who'll be havin' more than 30p E/W on the favourite (OJL take note - this thread's for punters - not those who might risk the price of a curly-wurly Greets_(17) )

Me? I'll be havin' a punt on a horse that's got a better than good chance of at least gettin' me to the line in a respectable position.

Havin' finished fourth, sixth and seventh in previous nationals (Didn't run in last year's) added to a respectable third place in the becher chase (Over the same fences) last December, BIG FELLA THANKS Might be gettin' on a bit now (He's 11) and might be at the top end of the handicap; but the last 4 winners have all carried 11st+.

The only question mark over him in my opinion, is the speed the horses'll go now the fences have been lowered AGAIN (Nice one ALF) which means it might be a bit of a stamina-sapper for the animal, come the last two fences. Oh, and the ground might be a little quick for him.

At 40/1, and with his record - as well as a jockey who's finished 2nd previously so knows the course - he's terriffic value.

I'd certainly waste me money on him runnin' in the race, than on the glue he'll be turned into - The same glue I'll be sniffin' if it don't win, as I won't be able to afford a bevvy tomorrow night!

So, here's me finishin' order.

1. Big Fella Thanks
2. Cappa Bleu
3. Chicago Grey
4. Balthazar King.

Good luck whatever yiz decide to do Thumb

Aye, 'tis a grand day out - so it is. Town's just superb in the evenin' as well.

We in blighty have a bit to learn about the aussies though; what with 'tabs' in every boozer an' all. Thing is, it's bleedin' hard work tryin' to work out the form from their 'bibles'.

Lads - lump on the big fella Thumb

RE: The 'nash'
It's crazy that they have bookies in the pub here and you can bet up to midnight (with the timezones), imagine that at home, lads would be skint as soon as they got paid on a Friday evening.

I've gone in on a Saturday afternoon, had a few jars and found myself betting on the horses, footy, dogs, even that stupid fecking harness racing (biggest load of wank ever) and walking out of there $200 down and maybe half of that on booze, the rest on gambling. Luckily, I'm not a big gambler and only do that maybe every few months at best but I'm sure there's lads doing that every week

RE: The 'nash'
Na I don't think I'll bother, lost $50 last week on the Aussie "soccer" and have $20 on Dortmund to win the champs league so only got a little bit of dough left in my betting account. Suppose I could risk $5 each way on your outsider @ 10's with betfair
ended up giving in and doing 2 each way, big fella and cappa bleu and also On his own to win
