Everton Update: Players Return To Training & Transfer News

Everton transfers are underway: This week, the club completed the free transfer signing of former England international midfielder Gareth Barry, and are seeking further additions.

The 33-year-old signed a 3-year deal with the blues, with the former Aston Villa and Manchester City star becoming the first signing of the summer. It would have been criminal not to sign him.

With the transfer window open and pre-season training underway for many, Roberto will be keen to start adding more names to his squad, especially considering the World Cup reaches its conclusion on Sunday.

We have been linked with a huge list of names already – it has almost gotten to the point were we feel like not following the transfer stories and just waiting to see who actually signs. This week, we’re told Everton are apparently interested in Yacine Brahimi. He’s a 24-year-old midfielder who plays for Rennes. As it’s been mentioned, we’ve heard the move for Carlos Sanchez is none existent.

Tom Cleverly might not be the most popular name in football but as he worked with Roberto Martinez at Wigan, we see a potential move for him as a real possibility. United have added a lot quality to their squad already this summer and so Cleverly will likely be shown the door. It wouldn’t be a particularly popular move but in Martinez we trust.

It is believed Everton are looking for at least one central midfielder, two strikers and a right winger. Lukaku still seems to be the major target however it is likely to go right down to the wire. We all said we would have picked up more points if we had signed the players we signed on deadline day earlier, but sometimes the deals simply can’t be done until the last minute. It is quite unlikely that all our transfer business will be completed before our first league fixture.

Everton open the season away at Leicester City, whom they also face in Thailand during in a pre-season friendly. William Hill make Everton 11/10 favourites  for the clash. Open a william hill betting account today! to take advantage.
