George McKane: My Wyness Solution

George McKane Column: 30th July

Well Mr. Wyness goodbye and good riddance in my opinion. I refer to my last article on the coming season where I stated my worries about the club being in the hands on the neo – consumerists whose total commitment is to money, profit and their own CV. The fans who actually make their money, that’s me and you, we are the least important in the New Labour Celebrity Consumerist Capitalist Cosmetic Premier League.

For me its time to celebrate getting rid of Mr.Wyness who represents everything I detest in the modern game, big, bluff ( I’ve met him a few times at non football events),and blustery but with little to actually say. Of course, when something else comes along, or the offer of more money, or a bit of beach or whatever, he’s off. Loyalty, commitment, vision they mean nothing to people like him. Seems indicative of the whole City Culture at the moment.

So go, Mr.Wyness and please don’t show your face here again.

Interesting though isn’t it that they can leave behind any amount of debris, no worries for him, his friend ( I say that in the singular) will give him a job in sunny Spain, with a nice reference and another few years on another big fat contract while we the long term supporters, the real fans, the true owners of Everton Football Club, we stay and have to live with the likes of his mess.

Please Everton and Evertonians learn some lessons. Thank our lucky stars that he has gone, please do not employ the likes of him again, no capitalist lackeys please, and Evertoniasn don’t be fooled by glossy magazine and powerpoint presentations by the likes of Mr.Wyness telling us where the future of our club lies. We know not only where our future should be but we also know our history and thankfully it does not include you Mr. Wyness.

Be warned Everton, don’t be fooled again.

If we believe that we are The Peoples Club, if indeed there is any such thing in modern football, then let’s go for it whole heartedly and listen to The People, me you, our kids and grandkids, and parents and grandparents, listen to Evertonians not some suit bound powerpoint Laptop presenter with neither Blue blood in his veins nor passion and love in his heart nor history or vision in his head.

Goodbye Mr. Wyness and good riddance.

Listen to the People and learn Everton

Now what about Moyes’ contract and signings………more on those issues later.

  1. Bully did some good for the club or else we would not be where we are today.

However, due to his inability to tell the truth on matters that count. When asked a straight question that needs a straight answer it was YES or NO. He was never to my knowledge ever asked a closed question about Destination Kirkby but he always gave a closed answer. He was the same at Aberdeen and when things did not go his way he upped and left.

I have no sorry for his leaving and only wish it had happend earlier. It appears from the outside that perhaps HE was the reason the David Moyes has not already signed his contract. Well now he has gone, Davey boy can sign and we can look at getting the players we need in.
