Team News: This will be Moyes' last game in charge.

Opposition News: Chelsea are 3rd [6th] in the Premier League with 72 [63] points from 37 games and a goal difference of +35 [+16]. Figures in [brackets] are Everton's equivalents

Lawrenson prediction: 1-2 defeat
This is the last game in charge for both managers: Rafael b*nitez's time as interim boss of Chelsea is over at the end of the season and David Moyes leaves for Old Trafford after 11 years in charge of Everton. So both will be desperate to win, especially because there is not much love lost between them, going back to to b*nitez's time in charge at Liverpool between 2004 and 2010. b*nitez described Everton as one of the Premier League's "smaller teams" in 2007. I was at the Amsterdam Arena on Wednesday and Chelsea looked on their last legs near the end of their Europa League final win over Benfica, but their players' will to win got them over the line. They will still be tired on Sunday but lifting that trophy will be a big boost for them, and they will want to finish their season with another win in front of their own fans. As for Everton, I think we will see a typical performance from a Moyes team in terms of commitment, although I get the sense we saw his players give him their own farewell with their display in their home victory over West Ham last weekend. Chelsea need to win to be sure of avoiding the play-off with Arsenal for third place and automatic Champions League qualification that has been talked about this week. I think they will get the victory they need.

My Prediction: 2-2
I think we may just give Chelsea a game in the end. Two departing managers will face-off, and Moyes can round-off his Everton career with a win over the bigot. Chelsea need a point to mathematically seal a CL place, (we could win 20-0!), but all in all I think we might just turn up and make a real go of this. How different things may have been if we had won the reverse fixture, we sure as hell did enough to! Goals from Jelavic and the irrestiable Miralles

Quotes from last time:
bsce68: "Going to get battered today with that team. Ffs, what's ginger thinking?"
1878ev: "Stop fretting lads, it's only chelsea!!"
ryan: "The amount of chances we had - and hitting the woodwork twice - made it a crime for us to lose that game."

This was in the North Wales Post:

Vitor Pereira

HE HAS quietly crept up in the betting stakes to become David Moyes’ replacement, but the quiet man of Porto could be capable of making a big noise at Goodison.

Vitor Pereira is on the brink of retaining the Portuguese Liga title after a dramatic clash with Benfica on Saturday left his side in pole position to clinch the honours.

And with Pereira’s future at Estádio do Dragão, where he is out of contract in the summer, currently shrouded with uncertainty, the bookies reckon he could be a leading candidate to succeed Moyes at Goodison.

The 44-year-old has done well since replacing the Premier League bound Andre Villas Boas in charge at Porto in 2011, and while he shares some of the back-story which has made Villas Boas and Jose Mourinho before him a hit in the Premier League, Pereira does not share their outspoken traits.

In an interview yesterday he described himself as a man who prefers to focus on tactics, and leave the hogging of limelight to others.

“Portuguese people are strategic, with a huge work ethic” he said. “I do not have the talent to speak, in public, as finely as they do.

“Andre is very expressive, but I am different. I am a quiet person.

“I define myself differently: I am a tactical coach. For me, that part of the game is not so important.

“It is not part of my personality.”

Everton fans will care more about the footballing style of their next manager than whether he can produce the right soundbites, and when it comes to tactics Pereira says all the right things to whet their appetite.

“I like my teams to have total control, of the ball, of the game,” he said.

“I like to see my teams pressing very aggressively, very high up the pitch.

“The important thing is the balance between the attacking and defensive elements, but pressing high is the best way to defend. We have had the best defence in Portugal for the last two years.”

Pereira admits he has faced frustration at Porto, where he has had to sell some of the club’s stars, but has also had the opportunity to work with top talents like Joao Moutinho and Falcao.

“There are two parts to our job,” he said. “One is to find the young players before other clubs do.

“And then the other part is to help develop them.

“We look in countries where players tend to have creativity in their game, and then the coach’s job here is to teach them the tactics, the organisation, that you need to thrive in Europe. The players who move on take most of the credit, but for the coaches it is proof that we are doing our job.

“It is an honour for me to have worked with so many fantastic players. It is a point of pride to see them move on, to a better league, because it is a mark of my work.

“But the problem is that every year the best players are sold; we cannot build a team. Every year, we start again.”

If Pereira were asked to help Everton start again in the summer, the fluent English speaker would inherit at least one player he knows well.

Pereira tried to sign Belgian forward Kevin Mirallas from Olympiakos last summer before being beaten to the player’s signature by Moyes. After Mirallas shone again during Sunday’s win over West Ham, he clearly knows a talent when he sees one

For Me he is the perfect Manager. He is a winner, He looks at the youth system and scouting system for good cheap players. Which will all know he would have to do at Everton. One thing that get me is the Papers rave about Moyes Signings but it is the scouting System (Football Manager) That indentfies these players. He cannot take our scouting system.
Pereira though is about Tactics we all Know that is teh way to out smart teams in the Prem. The games this season where teams have "Parked the bus" and Moyes has not had the nouse to tincker with system to open the other team up is really frustrating*

I think the main thing is use of the squad or more importantly use of the Youth Team , Pereira has to do this all ready as Porto Have to Sell a top player ever season and they are in europe so play more games. Moyes has use the smallist squad of players in the prem for years and wonders why the team gets knackered. there is at least 5 youth players that would do a job and get expereince in the first team. Pereira has worked under Managers that do this Mourinho and AVB and then had to do it himself.

I do think that any other manger that has been linked to the job has the credentials he does

Blues left red faced after turning up to wrong venue for Phil Neville's leaving party

A host of Everton stars mistakenly headed to Neighbourhood on Spinningfields – where the Reds had booked their big celebration after winning the Premier League

With the football merry-go-round in full swing, it was no surprise that Everton stars got a little confused when they headed out in Manchester to celebrate their last home game – at the same time as their Manchester United rivals.

For a host of Blues stars, in town to mark Phil Neville’s departure from the club, mistakenly headed to Neighbourhood on Spinningfields – where the Reds had booked their big celebration after winning the Premier League.

Everton’s bash was actually taking place at Neighbourhood’s sister venue, Southern Eleven, around the corner!

It left Blues stars Marouane Fellaini, Sylvain Distin and Kevin Mirallas a little red-faced after they entered Neighbourhood, only to be told they were at the wrong footballer party.

They swiftly headed back to Southern Eleven to join up with the Toffees to party with Neville, who, of course, is also an ex-Red.

Everton’s do also became a bit of a farewell for their manager David Moyes, who will be joining up with the Reds full time from next season to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson.

For me, Coleman is developing into one of the best right backs in the Premier League. Him, alongside Baines, are my two favourite Everton players at the moment.

I'd have to say I think Zabelata and Sanga are the best two right backs, but I think Coleman is becoming really good asset to the side as a right back. I don't think much of him as a winger.

I think the reason he as done so well is because he has learned from his mistakes and has gained the experience from a run in the side. He's pacey and strong and is delivering similar covering and recovery traits to that of our recovery based central defenders Distin and Jagielka.

What are your thoughts on Seamus?

Rumours going round that we are interested in Roberto Saldado the Valencia striker.

Has a really good 1 in 2 record for his club in Spain, scoring 79 in 139 games. In this entire career, a record of 192 in 396 so we are looking at a consistent, proven goalscorer here.

He's getting on a bit but we need someone to fire us into the champions league and Solgado/Negrado would be great options. Imagine having both!

Also with Moyes gone ..no-one to ruin strikers like he did with Beattie, Johnson (Arguably a bit of a flop), Yakubu, Saha, Jelavic.

Personally we could do with someone a bit younger as well.

We worry about losing them every season, considering they are our best players.
But with Moyes gone, do you think it will finally be a reality that they leave?

All depends on what manager comes in really - a big name manager may convince them to stay.

I also think it is scandalous that Fellaini has a buyout clause so low as £24m.

But I don't think anyone could blame the likes of Baines or Fellaini moving to a team like United and winning the league.. Baines in particular is the best around.

Imminent Action on Everton FC EGM

As our members will know, the Everton FC Shareholders’ Association have been seeking the re-introduction of the Company Annual General Meetings at the club for some time. Our members, all of them both supporters and shareholders, have instructed the Executive Committee to pursue this matter on their behalf at each of the last two Association AGMs.

Following the democratically expressed wishes of our members, we have pursued this matter with the Board of Directors and Chief Executive of Everton. During the last two years we have taken a twin track approach as it has always been our preferred option that the Directors recognise the strong feeling of their shareholders on this matter and take the initiative to re-instate the AGM.

Consequently we have repeatedly put forth the argument that doing so would increase transparency at the club, offer the Board of Directors the opportunity to demonstrate their effective management of the company, and provide an opportunity for constructive engagement and exchange of ideas between the Directors and management on one side and the clubs shareholders and fans on the other.

However, in the event that the Directors remained unwilling to engage in this minimal show of transparency and good corporate governance, our only other option was to ask for the backing of enough shareholders to force the Directors to call an Extraordinary General Meeting against their will. So in concert with our appeals to the Board, and without ever giving up hope they would bow to the wishes of their shareholders, we took the steps to prepare such a petition and seek the support of our fellow shareholders.

We are therefore very disappointed to announce that we have failed to convince the Board of Directors to voluntarily convene a General Meeting and will soon notify the Company Secretary of the Everton Football Club Company Limited that we have secured the necessary mandate from the shareholders and require that the Club proceed forthwith to convene a General Meeting.
