Selection Dilemma

Selection Dilemma
I'm just trying to figure exactly where Moyes is going with with respect to his strongest 11 and its formation.

There's no doubt Rodwell will be an automtic selection given his current displays. Not only is he our best performer but he's also knitting the whole team together. Moyes still understandably still mentions his age and that we have to use him in the right games etc but for me he's already too good to leave out. We actually start passing the ball and keeping possesion with him in the side.

With Rodwell, we can also play Arteta in the centre. This gives us, for the first time I can remeber (since 84/85) a centre midfield that is actually comfortable on the ball. The form Arteta showed in the centre before his injury means we can't just put him back on the right wing just to get some shape to the side.

We don't really have any out and out wingers, more indside left (Pienaar) and again indside left with new signing Bily. I can only assume he plans to play Pienaar on the right.

We must face facts and agree Osman isn't good enough for any team wanting to break into the top four.

Moyes insists on playing 4-5-1 with probably either Yakubu or Saha, so do we play either Cahill or Fellaini ?

Or his he planning some rotation with Neville/Rodwell, Arteta/Osman, Cahill/Fellaini supporting the striker or Pienaar/Bily on the left ?

Althought its potentially looking a much better squad, will Moyes fall into the trap of not actually knowing what his best 11 is ?

Cheers mate.
I was a member of the evertonfc forum before it was closed down, although that was only for a few days. Hope I don't have the same effect here.

Just a thought but maybe Fellaini (even with all his doubters) will be able to play alongside Rodwell in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

It looks like this could be the preferred formation this season. Liverpool,Man Utd and Arsenal all play this formation at some point.

I know Fellaini has scored some goals for us but he's also good in possesion like Rodwell. His tackling could be a cause for concern but I honestly believe we have to keep possesion more in order to consistently compete at both domestic and european level.

How do you feel about this side

Howard

Neville/Heitinga Yobo/Jags Distin Baines

Rodwell Fellaini

Pienaar Arteta Bily

Saha Yakubu

I know Cahill is left out but we can't play everyone!

It wouldn't surprise me given our current record in the transfer market (bid accepted etc) but at least Neville would be an improvement over Hibbert.

A good tackler he may be but too often he gives the ball away and gets caught out of position.

Can't fault Hibberts effort though.
Can't believe I posted 12 players. What a .... !

Obviously, I only meant 1 forward ie Yakubu/Saha

Sorry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You had to go and ruining a promising start didnt you! Neville is f**king useless at RB as he cant defend, cant tackle and cant close the winger down.
If Heitinga does sign, it leaves Moyes with a huge "Where do we play our Capt" dilemma.

He isnt going to leave a dutch international out so that rules RB out,
Does he leave a promising world class youngster out like Rodwell? I would hope not but this is Moyes and he has to play Neville

RE: Selection Dilemma
Did anyone notice how much better we got when fellaini came on. Cahill doesn't offer enough on the pitch.

RE: Selection Dilemma
We did get better when Fellaini came on yesterday, but even when Cahill's having a bad game he's always capable of poppng up with a winner. Cahill and Fellaini don't work well together but out of the two i'd start Cahill.
