Phillip Green Pulling Out Of Everton ?
Word is retail billionaire Sir Philip Green, a not-so-secretive backer of Everton, could be about to take his ball and play elsewhere. Green has long been said to be the financial support behind his relatively impecunious friend Bill Kenwright, the Merseysiders' chairman, and played a role in the acquisition of a 23% stake by Planet Hollywood entrepreneur Robert Earl.

The talk is Green may be preparing to liquidate his Goodison commitments and focus his financial firepower on the club he really loves: Tottenham Hotspur.

Taken from this is london.

Is this why Moyes won't sign a new contract?

I maybe be reading a bit into this but if this rumour is true, this could have MASSIVE repercussions upon Everton Football Club.

1. Green pulls out, wants his money back. How could Kenwright fund the money AND still find money for Kirkby
2. Money for transfers will now be at a minimum. We could perhaps forget the £25/30m in the summer.
3. David Moyes may now indeed walk out of Everton as he will not be given anything like serious money if Green goes.
4. If Kenwright is adamant about Kirkby, could we be about to lose Arteta our main sellable asset?

I heard this rumour too, if Green did sell it would be to a maybe abroad source, it could lead to a take-over at Goodison Park if say a billionaire bought his stake and then tried to buy other stakes around the football club eventually putting pressure on Bill Kenwright to sell it could be a good thing.

I don't think Green owns a stake does he? I thought there was rumours he gave a loan guarantee - but I don't think he's a shareholder.

problem is m8, Green doesnt own any shares in the club,
but he is a shareholder in a company that owns everton shares i believe

RE: Phillip Green Pulling Out Of Everton ?
Thought this was a strange article. It's based on a rumour that green might invest elsewhere but he doesn't directly invest in everton anyway. If the company who does pulls out they can only do that by selling their stake elsewhere either to the exsiting shareholders or an outside investment.
It might get a more active investor in but anyone who does come in will have to have assur tesco they won't interfere with the stadium.
