England squad

RE: England squad
Woy has achieved his promise of getting Liverpool to a major European competition!

I tell you what though, I actually think this England team has a chance as I'd imagine the media aren't putting a massive amount of pressure on them as the expectancy level should be a lot lower than previous tournaments. They've needed to change the old guard for a long time and now it's almost been forced upon them with lampard and Ferdinand not in the squad, they should of gone the whole way and got rid of terry, G*rrard and cashley

Statistically Baines has out performed Cole for the last 2 or 3 seasons, but Woy will still pick Cashley, the gutless option imo

RE: England squad
You could say the same for a few others, terry G*rrard and lampard arent the same players they once were yet get picked on reputation alone.

If I had to pick the England team I'd go for:
Hart
Baines lescott jags Richards
Young Parker Milner/G*rrard Walcott
Rooney Defoe

Not quite sure who I'd have in centre midfield, seems as if you don't have much quality there which might explain why G*rrard is still there.

Statistically, yes.

Recently, no. Cashley's performances in the CL were world-class. He's a nasty little tw*t but credit where it's due.

Besides, looks like Bainsey & Jags both might start.

RE: England squad
I'll give cashley credit for his CL semi & final performances. But that's it. The 'orrible c*nt knows that he's had Baines breathin' down his neck for the england LB berth, and so upped his game (only defensively) in the two games where he knew it'd be noticed.

Other than that, Baines has been far better than him for the last season & a half at least.

Terry's got a knock and Cole's got a bug. Jags more likely to start than Baines I'd say

RE: England squad
Do people on here think we are good enough (set aside the fact they are Everton players) when we have Baines and Jagileka in the England side? What is your view? Are they international standard players who have the ability to cope with the likes of the Germans, Dutch, Spanish even. I don't see why not because they do it against these players at Premier League level..

IMO we're blessed with the two of the best LBs in the tournament. Baines is easily good enough and would get into most international sides, probably even Spain's. Jags when paired with Lescott is very good, whilst not as good as what other countries will have defensively he won't let England down, he showed that against Spain.
Irrespective of Terry's injury I'd start Jags alongside Lescott against France, I think the understanding they have will be more important than Terry's experience.
