I completely disagree mate - Barca are unique. The idea that Evertonians could raise the £150M plus - that'd be needed to buy the club - plus further funds for stadium development & player investment - is la la. It won't happen & I wouldn't want it to.

How you can say the only way is down, after our most successful season for nearly 2 decades in beyond me. The club needs to increase it's revenue streams - via merchandising, ticket sales & growing the EFC "brand" - that's the only way we can generate more cash to invest. The idea that a sugar daddy investor is going to turn up & throw £M's at the club without a thought of a return is fantasy.

RE: LET OUR FANS BUY OUR CLUB
boots look at our last 10 games in the premier we won 2 1-0 against derby who other teams were running up cricket scores and the other a luckyb3-1 against newcastle,we only got 5th mate because villa lost their bottle,if our last 10 games was the form of a relegation team and thats a fact,we were 6 points ahead of the redshite and ended up 10 points behind, this is the form we will carry into the next season if we dont buy players and we dont have the money, thats why moyes hasen't signed yet,I can see him walking off shortly if nothing sorted out,you cant say cahill had a bearing on our downfall its not a 1 man team, its just that we are not good enough to compete with the best,so I will only be hoping for a 7 or 8th finish if kenwright hides his wallet.

RE: LET OUR FANS BUY OUR CLUB
The players that got us into 4th position in the 1st place - where still there - so what happened? Cahill's injury WAS key (I had some stats about games won / lost - with & without Cahill for the last 2 seasons - but I can't find them - however, take it from me - he IS key to our current system - the stats were scary!)

Anyway, sure we need to spend & spend big this summer - if we're to keep pace with the chasing pack & attempt to try & close the gap on the RS. But we can only spend what we have mate, we can't spend £M's of borrowed cash & hope for the best! A new owner would have to work to the same principles - unless it was a Sinatra type & personally I'd rather be mid table mediocrity, than go down that route!

You seem to be assuming that a) Moyes won't be given the cash he wants & b) That Kenwright won't give him the maximum he can

On both counts IMO you're wrong - Moyes will sign his new deal & we will spend some big bucks this summer - we'll have to wait until August 31st to see who's right & who's wrong VA.

RE: LET OUR FANS BUY OUR CLUB
Firstly what are you going to offer these 100 000 fans for their £1000? You can't offer them tickets as our capacity is less than half that. You can't offer them much say as the only vote they'll have is electing the new directors for a set period. You can't even offer them a place on the board, because Barcelona, as far as I'm aware, has a system where you need to put up around £1million to get a place on the board and be considered in presidential elections.

Secondly it provides a short term boost, but then what? It would make raising funds extremely difficult. Club owners now raise funds by underwriting loans (as Earl did for the Yakubu transfer). Without wealthy people with a major stake in the club, they will be more unwilling to do this, expecially with major investments such as the training ground and stadiums, so cash flow would be a real problem, meaning either the fans would only be able to buy 50% of the club so that investors and wealthy men could take major stakes in the club, completly undermining the entire aim of it, or that the club is constantly refinanced like Liverpool and is plunged into further debt.

There is no point making comparisons to Barcelona, as they were set up as a fan owned team and are now one of the richest and biggest clubs in the world which doesn't need to worry about raising funds. No fan takeover of the size required at Everton has ever taken place, and if it did, it would have so many complications that the outcome would not necessarily be a positive one.

As much as I like the idea of our club being owned by the fans, it won't happen. However as we've had major says in the stadium proposal, have been looked after in terms of season ticket prices and have seen major strides both on and off the field, I'm content that this is still my club, not jus the board's club, and that we're still heading in the right direction.

RE: LET OUR FANS BUY OUR CLUB
I dont think it could ever work. Very good point SOS, what do the fans get for their £1000? Also, what happens after the initial investment?
A football club the size of EFC requires sound consistent financial input, also capital on which to loan(although not to any excessive amount).
I think BK is doing just fine at the minute and honestly believe he'll sell/add partners when the right person/people and not the right amount comes in - which is what i'd prefer.
The clubs in good hands and going in the right direction.
