SAMBA
The Gunners' need to strengthen their defence was shown during Saturday's Emirates Cup clash with Boca Juniors, when they squandered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2.

Chris Samba is a target for Arsenal and Everton (PA)
Toffees centre-back Jagielka has long been a target for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and it is believed he will step up his interest in the coming days by making another bid.

It is unlikely the Gunners will match Everton's £18 million valuation of the England international, but the new offer may be worth enough to trigger negotiations.

Goodison Park boss David Moyes is already making contingency plans for life without Jagielka and is thinking over a move for Blackburn Rovers central defender Samba, reports the Sunday Express.
.Rovers hope to keep hold of Samba, but would consider selling if they receive an offer of more than £10 million for the ex-Hertha Berlin star.

Blackburn may find they lose Samba whatever happens with Arsenal's move for Jagielka, as Wenger is likely to bid for the Congo international if he is unable to land his top target.

RE: SAMBA
Sorry to thwart this mate but I met him last night in Hong Kong and had a chat.

He reckons he's off but not to us. Most likely Arsenal which means we'll keep Jags.

Just for proof here's a picture of my ugly mug and the Beast! F_cheers
