Yakubu has completed his transfer to Blackburn Rovers. The Nigerian who joined the club for a club record fee of £11.25m from Middlesbrough in 2007 was an instant hit at Everton, scoring 20 goals in his first season. However the following season he sustained a ruptures Achilles at White Hart Lane and was out of action for over a year. Having never recaptured his previous form the Yak was loaned out to Leicester last year and has now finally left the club on a permanent basis.
We all wish the Yak the very best of luck for the future.

Last week we brought you the news that Joseph Yobo was to complete a move to Fenerbahce, however as we understand it this deal is no closer to going through and is now hanging in the balance. Everton are believed to be holding out for £4m whilst Fener would prefer to pay only £3m. Yobo is said to be very keen on the move and with seemingly no other bidders Everton may have to lower their demands or risk the deal collapsing.

We also understand that Everton will use the money from this sale, together any money brought in from the sale of Yakubu and the sale of James Vaughan to Norwich City to finance a move for Wigan Athletic midfielder Charles N’Zogbia.

Meanwhile in other transfer news Everton are reportedly interested in a loan move for Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata, a move that the player himself is keen on.

However one move that does not look like happening is Demba Ba, the striker’s wage demands have made a deal with Everton difficult and it is unlikely he will sign unless he lowers them.

Joseph Yobo should complete a permanent transfer to loan club Fenerbahce in the next few days. Yobo, who was David Moyes’s first signing at Everton has spent the year with the Turkish side, helping them to their first league title in 4 years. The fee is believed to be €3.5 million which in Pounds is roughly £3.1 million.
Yobo follows James Vaughan out of Goodison Park as David Moyes tries to raise funds to strengthen the squad.
It is believed that Demba Ba could well be the first signing. He is available for a nominal fee and is in talks with Everton over a move that would see the Blues take over West Ham’s payments to Hoffenheim, that are dependent on appearances. Ba’s recent knee problems could scupper the deal however.

Whilst the new home shirt has been available on football shirt websites for all to see for the past couple of weeks, there’s still normally some excitement about the official launch with the players wearing the full kit. So Tim Cahill might find himself in trouble with the Everton merchandising team this afternoon after he inadvertently revealed this season’s kit to his 15,000 twitter followers by putting a picture of him and Kaka from the recent FIFA 12 shoot as his display picture. Cahill, who has had the account for quite a while but only this weekend started to tweet regularly, has since changed his profile picture

The main headline from the picture is that it is indeed the shirt that has been circling the internet, but as an added surprise it would appear Everton are reverting to blue socks for next season. Remember you can follow Follow Everton on twitter @FollowEverton which we update regularly.

Steven Pienaar is a doubt for Everton’s game against Manchester City next Monday although a scan has today revealed no serious damage from the injury he suffered at home to Wigan on Saturday. Earlier on in the week the South African tweeted: “Waiting on scan results. I would hate to be injured” however upon hearing the results the midfielder posted: “Scan results weren’t that bad, but gotta be patient now. Another week of rehab with our physios…”
With a week of rehab to come it now seems unlikely that he will be able to play at Eastlands in 5 days time however it would seem that a return against Birmingham on Boxing Day is a realistic target.

Everton have been dealt a fresh injury blow with Steven Pienaar being ruled out of today’s game with a groin injury.

Steven confirmed on his twitter site that he will be out for 2-4 weeks meaning he is unlikely to be fit for the Merseyside Derby after the international break. This is terrible news for the club and fans as Pienaar was one of the better players against Fulham.

Pienaar said: “It looks like In the end I’ll be out injured for about 2-4 weeks with a groin injury. I hope shake this injury off quickly!”.

Pienaar joins long term absentees Louis Saha, Victor Anichebe and Jack Rodwell on the injury list whilst Tim Cahill has been struggling with a knee injury and is unlikely to feature today.
