The Italian has scored 10 goals in 29 league games since his move from Roma, but Fiorentina coach Delio Rossi confirmed that the player would be allowed to leave the club this transfer window.

According to Violanews, the Toffees have already agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old, but are yet to agree on the terms of the loan with the Serie A club. It is believed Everton would be looking for an option to buy the player should his loan move prove fruitful.

Meanwhile, Wigan Athletic are reportedly contemplating a move for James McFadden, who has failed to make an impact at Goodsion Park since he resigned for the club in October.

The Toffees previously held a strong interest in bringing the France international to Goodison Park on loan during the summer but faced stiff competition from Fulham, who also tried – but ultimately failed – to sign the 25-year-old.

It is likely that Everton would favour a loan move again, but reports suggest a potential £7.5m bid for the striker could be on the cards in January after Everton manager David Moyes was given the green light to spend some of the money generated from Mikel Arteta’s sale to Arsenal.

Fulham may attempt to hijack any potential move for Gignac despite him seeing first team football extremely limited this term.

Late goals from former-Fulham striker Louis Saha and Jack Rodwell secured victory at Craven Cottage.

Everton opened the scoring after just three minutes when new-signing Royston Drenthe – on only his first Premier League start – picked up the the ball from Rodwell and lashed a curling, long-range effort into the bottom corner of Fulham’s goal.

Maroune Fellaini, Apostolos Vellios and Jack Rodwell all had excellent chances to put the Toffees 2-0 up, however, despite being firmly in control, Everton failed to add to the scoreline before half time.

Fulham substitute Bryan Ruiz made an immediate impact when the 26-year-old found the equalizer, superbly chipping the ball over Tim Howard from inside the box. The £10m signing could have scored his second later on but his low effort well saved by Everton’s American stopper.

Both sides pushed for the win, with Fulham squandering a golden opportunity to make the scoreline 2-1 when Bobby Zamora lashed the ball over the bar after rounding Tim Howard.

Everton had showed added impetus after the substitutions of Coleman and Cahill, but it was earlier substitute Saha who scored the winner with a clinical finish that went in off the post.

Drenthe and Rodwell were particularly influential in orchestrating the victory, with the latter wrapping up the win deep into injury time with a well-struck shot from distance.

James McFadden has re-signed for the Blues until the end of the season.

The versatile player joins the Toffees on a free transfer after being released by Birmingham City at the end of last season.

McFadden missed most of last season through injury, but David Moyes still moved to offer the Scottish international the chance to re-join Everton on a short-term deal.

A player with undoubted ability, during McFadden’s first spell at Everton he scored 11 times in 109 appearances, however a combination of injuries and inconsistency led to the 28-year-old’s eventual £5m departure to Birmingham City in 2008.

Everton beat off competition from Celtic and Wolves for his signature.

Although we have a small squad, bringing another left-sided player to complete with the likes Magaye Gueye, Roysten Drenthe and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov would perhaps be deemed unnecessary by most fans. What do you think? Leave your comment below or in our forums.

Everton are one of a number of clubs believed to be pursuing a deal to sign Marseille striker Andre pierre Gignac on a season-long-loan.

However Fulham are believed to be the favourites for the 25-year-old, who scored 34 goals in 98 games during a previous spell at Toulouse. French sources also suggest Genoa, Olympiacos and Blackburn are also in the running for the France international’s signature.

As we reported yesterday, it looks possible Real Madrid will allow Royston Drenthe to join Everton. A possible loan deal was initially indicated to us, but with the player’s contract expiring at the end of this season, Madrid may let the player leave on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Yakubu and Beckford may leave to join Blackburn and Leicester respectively, Argentine Primera División striker Denis Stracqualursi looks set to join the Blues on a season-long-loan and Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta could yet join Arsenal in a £10m deal, however, we have just been told the latter deal may now be off.

UPDATE: We have reportedly made an approach for Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Would you be happy for us to sign Gignac? Would Drenthe and Stracqualursi be good signings? Should the club sell Arteta to Arsenal?Leave a comment below or in our forums.

Everton are reportedly finalizing a deal to sign Argentine striker Denis Stracqualursi on loan.

The powerful 23-year-old played in Argentina for Club Atlético Tigre last season and is set to undergo a medical before joining on a season-long loan deal. He was the top scorer in the Argentine Primera Division last season with over 20 goals to his name.

A description of the player below – source – www.argentinafootballworld.com:

Tall, robust and proficient with his feet; Denis Stracqualursi is everything Argentinians love in a number 9. His reputation was already growing throughout this Clausura as week after week he played ruthless target-man football, barging his way to the top of the scorers’ charts. In a league where attacking football is usually dominated by fluttering will-o-the-wisps, it was refreshing to see a striker earning his keep by relying on brute physicality, with just a touch of intricacy as an afterthought. If previously ‘Traca’ was an attractive prospective signing for the Primera’s bigger clubs or European observers, Round 10 of the Clausura was when he well and truly arrived. He became the first player in 15 years to score a hat-trick against Boca Juniors in the Bombonera. And he did it in typical Traca style. Two monstrous headers and an unstoppable penalty put him on the front pages of the sports dailies and all but earned him a move to greener pastures this summer. Better start learning the pronunciation (STRA-KWA-LURE-SY)… and remember the name.

Jermain Beckford could join Leicester City today after Everton reportedly accepted a bid of around £4m for the 27-year-old striker.

With only a few forwards on the books at Everton – including the hardly prolific Anichebe, injury-prone Saha and out-of-favour Yakubu, letting a striker who did actually score 10 goals in his debut Premier League season leave for just £4m will disappoint many Evertonians. However, reports suggest Beckford may reject a move and stay to fight for his place at Goodison.

If a move does materialize, Everton may have access to these funds, and combined with a potential sale of Yakubu – who looks set to join Blackburn – and possibly Joseph Yobo, David Moyes may have time and funds to strengthen his squad up front or in wide areas with a loan signing or two..
