Everton are reportedly in talks with Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton.

Barton, 28, is available on a free transfer after Newcastle placed the former Manchester City midfielder on the transfer list this week.

With Everton still sniffing around for a winger and a striker, it looks like the only incoming transfers will either be free transfers or loans until the likes of Joseph Yobo have departed.
