Zenit and Barcelona have ended negotiations over the signing of Andrei Arshavin.

Barcelona have refused to go over their £12m valuation for Russian playmaker Arshavin, and now Zenit have ended negotiations with the Spanish club. Ashavin’s preferred choice was Barcelona, the club he has supported all his life, and now the 27 year old will be forced to look elsewhere. Zenit have also confirmed no other offers had been made, but David Moyes is still apparently interested.

Are the Everton board trying to raise club record funds to make a bid for Arshavin? If Zenit hold out for £20m – we’ve certainly got no chance, even if we did have any chance of signing him in the first place….
